Saxophonist Nathan Bellott has established himself as a compelling voice in jazz and beyond. Awarded 2nd Prize at the 2020 Carinthia Jazz Award and reaching the semi-finals of the inaugural Michael Brecker International Saxophone Competition (2019), his artistry resonates with audiences globally.

Nathan's formative years were spent immersed in the New York City jazz scene, honing his skills at SUNY Purchase College and The New School. His "graduate school" experience came through a five-year tenure as lead alto with the legendary Charli Persip's SUPERSOUND, alongside a years-long association with master pianist Hal Galper in Galper's "Youngbloods" quartet. Galper's critically acclaimed 2017 Origin Records release, Live at the COTA Jazz Festival, showcases their dynamic collaboration.

Nathan is a band leader and sought-after performer in NYC and beyond. He leads his own ensembles, and collaborates with luminaries such as The Stan Rubin Orchestra, Alex Apolo Ayala, Bobby Sanabria, The Birdland Big Band, Valery Ponomarev, and the Afro Latin Jazz Orchestra.

Beyond performance, he is dedicated to nurturing the next generation of musicians, maintaining a private studio and serving on the Winds Faculty at Brooklyn Music School. He also spends every July in the downeast region of Lubec, Maine teaching at the unique music program Summerkeys.

His musical lineage is rich, having studied with jazz masters including Jon Gordon, David Binney, Hal Galper, Jaleel Shaw, Dave Liebman, Bob Mover, Charles McPherson, Barry Harris, and more, shaping his uniquely expressive approach to the saxophone.

"Sound has always been my obsession, it encompasses all things expressive: tone, timbre and time."
